Traditionally the Emerce 100 is published in the last month of the year. The Emerce 100 is a list of companies with the best image in the e-business. Emerce carefully examines the study on which the list is based.

How is the Emerce 100 established?

Together with TNS/ NIPO we conducted a survey among the readers of Emerce, Computable, Management Team and Intermediair, in which they were asked how they viewed more than 300 companies in the field of expertise, service, pricing etc. The companies were classified in 10 categories. This results in a top 10 for every category. In the end the 10 best companies in a category 'qualify' for the Emerce 100.

Because the Emerce 100 is a study on image, we encountered the problem that the marketing budgets of the various companies differ quite a lot and this obviously affects the result of the Emerce 100. After all, Nokia has quite a different budget for marketing and PR than, for example, a web agency such as Info.nl.

This is different with the companies within a category, which in general can be compared very well. We calculated the average score of the top 10 of each category. Then we calculated how much it differs for each company from the average of the category in question. With this percentage a company goes to the grand finale: the Emerce 100.
